Gabriel Altamirano

Drawing, body and gesture through human networks, memory and spatial perception.

Gabriel Altamirano studied Visual Arts and Graphic Design at Instituto ISARM, where he later taught History of Art, Latin American Art, and Drawing and Painting. Since 2013, he has lived and worked in Buenos Aires.

His work is inspired by the human networks built through bonds, time and space, memory, movement, communication, patience and observation. His practice investigates and combines traditional drawing techniques with new technologies and supports, mostly exploring drawing and its technical and metaphorical possibilities.

Practice

Altamirano’s practice centers on the body as a space of memory, energy and connection. Through drawing, he explores gesture, movement and non-verbal communication as forms of human relation.

His work combines traditional drawing techniques with new supports and spatial formats, expanding into installation, mural work and live performance. The body appears fragmented, suspended or in tension, operating less as portrait than as a symbolic field.

Why Icon Lab Gallery selected his work

Icon Lab Gallery selected Gabriel Altamirano for a visual language built through drawing, bodily tension and symbolic gesture. His work aligns with the gallery’s interest in strong images, material experimentation and contemporary forms of visual communication.
